From Drew Barrymore to Rory Culkin, here’s a look at what the iconic cast have been up to since they first came face to face with Ghostface.

1. Drew Barrymore: Then

Drew Barrymore was the first face ever seen in the Scream franchise. And as the most famous cast member of the 1996 original, she was no doubt expected to become its final girl. But [spoiler alert] director Wes Craven shocked horror fans to their core when he killed off the former child star in its opening ten minutes! Barrymore’s only scene as Casey Becker also spawned the memorable catchphrase, “What’s your favorite scary movie?”

Drew Barrymore: Now

Barrymore’s brief turn in Scream helped continue her career renaissance. By the turn of the century she was a regular face in blockbusters such as Charlie’s Angels. And the star also built up a regular working relationship with Adam Sandler, appearing in The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, and Blended. More recently Barrymore has bagged her own daytime TV chat show.

2. Matthew Lillard: Then

Matthew Lillard may have looked harmless on the surface, but [more spoilers] he proved to be one of Scream’s two original killers. Yes, as secret psychopath Stu Macher the Hollywood star got to bludgeon several of his castmates to death in the 1996 classic. He was eventually thwarted, of course, by Neve Campbell’s final girl.

Matthew Lillard: Now

Lillard’s most famous role since his murderous turn in the Scream franchise has been a little goofier. The actor brought everyone’s favorite animated sidekick, Shaggy, to life in two cinematic adaptations of Scooby-Doo! Lillard has more recently been seen on the small screen thanks to his three-year stint in the crime drama Good Girls.
