Ranking The Trashiest Boyfriends Of SATC

“It's like the riddle of the Sphinx: why are there so many great unmarried women and no great unmarried men?” Carrie Bradshaw asks in the very first episode of Sex and the City. And this was, arguably, the enduring theme of the show. In each episode, we were treated to a new, truly terrible guy, each one worse than the last, each one’s behavior more reprehensible, their actions more questionable. Sure, there were a few good eggs (we think... Steve was a nice guy, right?), but in general the bar for the male sex was incredibly low. Now we’re here to answer the question that has plagued us ever since: who was the worst of them all? From the least trashiest (though still total garbage) to the absolutely irredeemable, this is a ranking of the very worst guys in Sex and the City.

40. Josh

Josh was from the Season 2 episode “They Shoot Single People, Don't They?” This guy wasn’t a bad person, per se; it’s more that he was totally, shockingly ignorant about women. In fact, poor Josh didn’t seem to know his way around the female body at all, but to make matters worse, he really believed he did.

Miranda, who was sleeping with him, had to inform him where everything was, after admitting she’d been faking it constantly whenever they’d been together. The worst part? Josh was a doctor; he really should have known these things!

39. Brad

Brad is another guy who isn’t bad enough to belong near the top of this list, but his sheer ignorance means he deserves a shout-out anyway. This guy, who appears in Season 3, Episode 5, is a bad kisser. But like, a really, really bad kisser. The girls all made fun of Brad for his terrible tongue skills. Did he deserve that? Well, that’s really up to you.

It is a bit annoying that Brad never once seemed to realize face-licking is a no-no, though. Surely if anyone is deluded enough to literally lick someone’s face like he does Charlotte’s, they must not be good at taking on feedback — or just don’t want to.

38. Sam

Sam unfortunately was too young, too immature, and too unhygienic for Carrie. She runs into him at a restaurant while still hung up over Mr. Big and is immediately taken with his youthful charm, but then they actually spend some time together...

Sam had a seriously dirty apartment, a bathroom covered in graffiti, and used toilet paper as a coffee filter: he was not boyfriend material. But he was played by Timothy Olyphant, so he had that going for him!

37. Kevin

Charlotte often seemed to hook up with men who seemed okay at first, but who ended up being completely incompatible with her when it came to sex. Take Kevin, whom she dated in the Season 1 episode “The Drought.” Kevin just isn’t really interested in sex, which soon becomes a problem for Charlotte.

He asks Charlotte, "Wouldn't you rather be with a guy who's kind and giving, but not that interested in sex, than an unstable, oversexed prick who only wants to get laid?” Charlotte answered, “Nope.” More worryingly, though, according to Carrie, Kevin used to be a “sex maniac” before he started taking Prozac.
